My Top Ten Favorite Halloween Decorations For 2021

Top 10 Halloween Decorations

Something wicked is coming, and I can’t wait. It’s spooky and fun, and it marks the beginning of a magical few months of being creative in winter. Oiche Samhain in Ireland, or Halloween Night for everyone else, is my most favorite time of the year. In Irish history, farmers marked the end of the harvest season, and the beginning of winter, by having a bonfire and celebrations from October 31st to November 1st. In Ireland, we didn’t carve pumpkins, but instead we carved turnips and made them into lanterns. It was believed that on Halloween night, the upper world of humans and the underworld of spirits and demons would connect. People disguised themselves as creatures from the underworld to protect themselves from the terrible things that would walk our world on Halloween night. So, while the Celtic roots of Halloween were dark and gothic, America turned it into a more colorful and family fun holiday. Collecting apples and nuts has now been replaced with collecting candy, and now many people put as much effort into this short holiday as they do for Christmas. We now have a wonderful combination of fun and colorful spookiness for everyone.

So, I have been excitedly looking for some awesome things to decorate the home for this Halloween. I spent this past week looking online for inspiration. Here comes my ideal decorations for the classroom or home for this Halloween. I am so excited I just want to scream!

Manny's Mysterious Oddities Coffin Shelf

I had to include this coffin shelf on the list. Apart from the fact that it looks elegant and it’s a coffin and a shelf, it is also functionable year-round. It is strong and sturdy. It can be placed on top of a table or hung on a wall. It is made with premium wood and arrives ready to use. I think it is the coolest thing I have seen during my Halloween search. I will probably use mine as a spice rack or to display my mini crafts. You can see this quality product here.

Kitch Aroma Black flameless Candles

I love these flickering battery-operated LED black, gothic style candles because they are made with real wax but come without the mess of dripping everywhere. Unlike the usual plastic looking novelty candles, these look so real while still being safe and convenient, with no actual flame. They come with a remote-control timer which gives you the option of 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours before they automatically turn off. I think these would look awesome in a gothic wreath or staggered in height to illuminate a gothic scene. Perfect for Halloween.

Cork Lights for Wine Bottles

I bought an engraver pen a few weeks ago, and I have been practicing using it on some bottles and jars. I am excited about the possibilities of this new craft that I am starting, so when I saw these bottle lights, I had to get them. Apart from the endless creative ideas you can use them for at Halloween, there is also Christmas and dinner parties and weddings and just as house decorations to set a mood and… and… well pretty much anything. Being able to recycle is hugely important in the world we live in now and adding these bottle lights into my used bottles to create some lovely, illuminated décor is amazing. Just add them to a few wine bottles to lead up to your house if you have a dark driveway at night. Cover a jar of bottle in some orange tissue paper and use black card or a black marker to make a Jack-o’-lantern face on it. Add the lights inside your jar or bottle and presto, you have a simple Halloween illumination to add to your Halloween decorations. The list can go on with these bottle lights and I know I will enjoy trying them in various bottle art.

Halloween Lace Decorations

This gothic lace decoration set looks awesome for a quick Halloween makeover in the living room or around the fireplace. There are a lot of different variations on these pieces on Amazon. This listing has 4.7 out of 5 ratings and a ton of positive reviews. I may try creating this look myself from an old net curtain. This design has Spiders and bats printed on the black hollow lace. In this set you get 1 Spider Web Fireplace Mantel Scarf Cover, 1 Spiderweb Round Lace Table Topper Tablecloth and 2 Spider Web Lamp Shade Cover Scarfs. These wicked looking Halloween lace decorations are affordable Halloween home decorations and will easily add a spooky atmosphere on your Halloween party.

Halloween Monster Face Decorations

This one gave me endless ideas to decorate doorways, porches, and windows… and my car. You can buy the pieces already made or if you are feeling creative, then why not make your own facial features on some thick card and laminate them before decorating your windows and doorways and turn every window and door into a scary monster mouth. This pack contains 2 eyes, 2 noses, 2 eyebrows and 9 fangs in the set. It is equipped with enough foam adhesive for each piece. The length of each eye is 15.7 inches, the largest fang size is about 12.5 inches, and the nose is about 10 inches long. The reviews are great on this product. You can find it here.

Halloween Horror Portrait Decorations

These freaked me out when I first saw them….in a good way. They are scary as hell but an impressive addition to your hallway or room, or even out on your porch on Halloween night. When you look at these old vintage portraits, they look normal, but when you move your position, they morph into a terrifying scene. No batteries needed. They are light and easy to hang. While this pack contains 4 different images, there a few others to collect for your gallery. You can check these out here.

Halloween Doorbell with Animated Eyeball and Spooky Greetings

This doorbell caught my eye… literally. It has a moving illuminated eye that pops open when the doorbell is pressed. The green light from the eyes is very bright, and it shines in the dark to add a weird color to your front door at Halloween. You can hang it anywhere you want. It is very suitable for hanging indoors or outdoors on the front porch, balconies, walls, trees, haunted houses, etc. The eyeball turns and emits a terrible “Welcome”, with three different creepy ghost sounds. You can check out more information on it here and watch some videos of it in use. It looks pretty awesome and with some great reviews.

Starry Night Throw Blanket.

As soon as I saw this throw blanket, I wanted it. It reminded me of Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice in Disney’s Fantasia. I may be too old to admit it, but Mickey Mouse was my idol when I was a kid and I wanted to control the stars, sky and sea, just as the apprentice did while he was dreaming. This gorgeous night blue throw with a starry night pattern would transform any sofa, bed, or armchair into a cozy magical spot to relax. I would probably use it all year round and not just for Halloween. It’s wrinkle and fade resistant. It also doesn’t shed and prevents allergies, which is exactly what I need. It comes in different sizes: Twin, King, Queen, Throw. It has over 2,000 reviews on Amazon and a five-star rating. You can check it out here.

8 Feet tall, Spooky Blow-up Ghost for Outside.

Inflatables are a great way to save storage space when they are not in use. You really need to make sure you are getting a quality product though, as the last thing you want is for it to wilt on that spooky night and disappoint the passing children as they go trick-or-treating. This blow-up ghost looks awesome, and it has a five-star review on amazon and over 165 reviews on its listing. I haven’t read a critical review on it yet. This inflatable ghost inflates itself quickly in about a minute and there is a built in LED flame lamp inside the ghost’s body, which glows in the night. You can check out the video of the ghost in operation on its amazon page here. It is waterproof & wrinkle resistant. It comes with a 10 Feet Power Cable so you can decorate the front of the house quickly with little effort.

Metal Cat Decorative Garden Stakes with Reflective Eyes

These cats may seem a little understated, but you can put them anywhere and they are weatherproof with reflective glass eyes on a painted black steel body. You can leave them outside all year round as they can also scare away other animals from your yard. While they are ideal for outside in the garden, I would also try putting them in the window with a flickering light behind them. There is nothing as witchy as a black cat watching from the windows.
